big boy haircut

so our dear friend "bethey" williams was the first to appropriately trim joshua's hair for the first time (i had whacked at it before), but today with a 100 degree temperature (yikes!) he went to the salon for the first time. with the help of a lollipop (his first) he sat quite still and never flinched! amazing. it looks cute and noah shined as the big-brother-helper.

i love this face!

this is an old photo, from his 3rd birthday back in july, but i just love this look! he's been REALLY whiney this week, really complainy, blah, blah, so this is something to focus on instead. tonight as jeff is in raleigh playing this random gig i'm reminiscing with picasa and smiling. i love you noah-bear!!!

noah...

....is cute too! i'm realizing i haven't posted him in a while!
this is a fave from disney in november and then of him dancing with a schoolmate!

just another manic monday

yep, i used to listen to the bangles all the time and 'walk like an egyptian' frequently. but that is beside the point.

i really should just have a photo blog. i am not taking the time--as i hoped i would--to write about our lives. or maybe its that nothing really seems noteworthy in our day-to-day. and maybe that is okay. not sure, but whomever it is that looks at this blog, i hope you like photos of our family, cause that is all it is! (smiles)

something noteworthy to say on this monday is that i have been enjoying my new sara groves cd (as i mentioned before). for some reason, music really gets me in a place where i can soften enough to be open to the Holy Spirit. perhaps a bit odd that it takes this, but God is working in my heart as i listen and ponder the words in her songs. and that has led me to reading a bit about the International Justice Mission--an organization whose work impacted her song writing on this album. i guess, in short, what i could say (as my kids are literally screaming for my attention) is that i have been reminded of the importance of remembering what is REALLY going on in our world. that my own issues with friendships, sanity, decorating my house, etc are pretty small. i think God cares about these little things (and maybe they aren't so little), yes, but i also need to OPEN MY EYES WIDE. there is suffering in the world, and i need to better trust God in it and also get out there and get involved in God's major work. at least i'm wanting. so that is a start, and i'm thankful for that!

on to the photos.......
jeff had a great 32nd birthday

my joshua is getting SO cute and big!

and we had a great time with the darlings over the weekend

aka Linus

a little interesting fact for you--on this wednesday morning--is that our second born is very much attached to a blanket his 'nanny' gave him. and once he gets the blanket (we reserve it for naps) that thumb goes right in the mouth. then a nice, slow reading of goodnight moon is required. (joshua will help with the 'hushhhhhhh' part, finger to mouth and all). i'm constantly amazed at how God made each of us so uniquely. and i'm also reminded, through children, that we must have been thought of before the beginning of time with the amazing intricacies in personality that i see in each of my boys. thank you God that YOU knit me together. it reminds me--as hard as it is to believe--that i'm not crazy.

go buy the new sara groves cd. it's taken me straight to the Father, once again, as she always has a way of doing.
