first day of school

we were ALL very excited to start school today! it felt very normal to return to our preschool for joshua's class and noah's new pre-K program. we met some new friends and are excited about a new year! yay school!

and today's AMAZING weather (cool & rainy) got me all excited about fall coming--red wine tastes better, the leaves will be turning soon, and butternut squash is ready to be baked. yeah fall! i'm ready for a new plaid skirt!!! :)

beach time!

what fun we had celebrating yah-yah's 60th birthday at the beach! there were presents opened, good food had, lots of beach chair time, and riding the waves. the best part was time as a family, especially for the cousins!!! noah and joshua LOVE their cousin zoe!

family communication

so last night we were able to skype japan (thanks rich!) and have some time to connect with family that are there visiting our ama, who was 100 years old on the 18th of this month. it was happy to connect, but sad to be missing out on the experience together. here is a photo of the computer screen during our 'visit.'

noah's dinner choice

here are the hwangs at cici's pizza, the place noah wanted to eat at most for his birthday. believe it or not, mac n cheese pizza is his favorite there--yikes.

Noah Turns 5!!!

it's been a great day of:
1) fishing with daddy!
2) eating brueggers bagels!
3) playing bakugon!
4) receiving phone calls from family and friends!
5) playing my new guitar!

i love being five, says noah!

Happy Fourth!

we had much fun today at the parade downtown, at the pool, and resting at home. we're headed to cookout with friends tonight. here are my favorite shots from this morning! including our favorite piece of the parade--babe, the bat-catching dog who's officially a greensboro grasshopper!

the mountains

nothing like getting ready for a posed photo! we went to see dear martha this weekend. it was filled with great smells, sounds, and sights. the fresh air was restorative! we love you martha, chip and hanky!
